What is an UPS?

Uninterruptible power supply equipment refers to the power supply equipment that will not be interrupted by a short power outage, can always supply high-quality power and effectively protect precision instruments. Full name Uninterruptible Power System. It also has the effect of stabilizing voltage, similar to a voltage regulator.

From the basic application principle, UPS is a kind of power protection equipment containing energy storage device, inverter as the main component, voltage and frequency stability output. It is mainly composed of rectifier, battery, inverter and static switch.

1) Rectifier: The rectifier is a rectifier device, which is simply a device that converts alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC). It has two main functions: first, convert alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC), feed the load after filtering, or supply the inverter; Second, provide charging voltage to the battery. Therefore, it also plays the role of a charger;

2) Battery: The battery is a device used by the UPS to store electrical energy, which is formed by a number of batteries in series, and its capacity determines its maintenance discharge (power supply) time. Its main function is: 1 When the mains power is normal, the electrical energy is converted into chemical energy stored in the battery. When the mains fails, the chemical energy is converted into electrical energy to supply the inverter or the load;

3) Inverter: The inverter is a device that converts direct current (DC) into alternating current (AC). It consists of inverter bridge, control logic and filter circuit.

4) Static switch: static switch, also known as static switch, it is a contactless switch, is an AC switch composed of two thyristor (SCR) in reverse parallel, and its closure and disconnection are controlled by the logic controller. It is divided into two types: conversion type and parallel type. The conversion switch is mainly used in the system of two power supplies, and its role is to realize the automatic switching from one way to another; The parallel type switch is mainly used for parallel inverters and mains or multiple inverters.
