Safety and precautions of DC panels

1. What are the safety precautions for operating DC panels?

 Before operation, make sure that the equipment is powered off, wear insulating gloves and insulating shoes, and use insulating tools.

 It is forbidden to plug or unplug modules or disconnect batteries when the DC panel is running (to avoid arcing).

 Short circuit of the positive and negative poles of the battery pack will cause fire, and metal tools must be strictly prevented from touching the positive and negative poles at the same time.

 During maintenance, the corresponding feeder switch must be disconnected to prevent the DC power supply from being reversed or the load from suddenly losing power.

2. What is the difference between a DC panel and a UPS?

 Different uses: DC panels are designed for DC loads (such as control and protection) in power systems and output DC power; UPS mainly provides uninterrupted AC power for AC loads (such as computers and instruments).

 Different working principles: DC panels output DC by direct discharge of batteries; UPS needs to convert battery DC power into AC power through an inverter.

Different reliability requirements: DC panels need to meet the “zero interruption” requirement of the power system and usually use multi-module redundancy; UPS focuses more on waveform stability and switching time.
